Exploring the Full Range of Posca Markers
They can be used in a wide variety of artistic applications and styles including; illustration, painting, drawing, graffiti and craft. They are rich in opaque, water-based pigments and have a high density. They don’t require a primer and can be applied to paper, glass, wood, canvas, ceramics, metals and textiles. The markers are available in varying tip sizes from.7 mm to 15 mm. They can be layered to add depth and dimension, are weather-resistant and are quick drying.
The markers are produced by a company based in Japan and the marker bodies and caps are made of plastic. The tips are stainless steel. The pens are not recyclable and according to the company’s website, it will take hundreds of years for them to break down in landfill.
The marker has a little ball inside of it that mixes the paint ingredients. It is easily activated by shaking the marker energetically, with the cap on. When the marker runs out of paint, it can be refilled with a special refill but this is not very common. To remove the nib, it needs to be gently unscrewed from the marker body, being careful not to damage the nib holder or the marker body itself. To prevent the nib from becoming clogged or dried out, regularly clean it with water or rubbing alcohol.
